A photovoltaic generator is made up of solar modules, themselves comprising photovoltaic cells, with a silicon base. These modules transform solar energy directly into electricity (continuous current). It is the direct conversion of a photon into an electron in a semi-conductor (silicon). The power is expressed in Watt-peak (Wp), a unit which expresses the electrical power delivered by the panel with a given amount of sunshine (maximum power). One or more inverters convert the continuous current into an alternative current at 50 Hz and 220 V.
